No, not only because I like the number 68 or have that season pass. I am total hockey fanatic. The Pērkons club Dinamo Riga are my favourite teams. Olé, Olé, Olé, Olé!
Every piece of music begins on a note, every journey begins with a step. My journey began in Talsi – the first steps, the first sounds, the first trombone. The trombone class at the Talsi music school and the Talsu Sprīdīši children’s ensemble mark the start of my musical journey. My city, nestled amidst nine hills and two lakes, is both charming and chaotic. Do visit it – it’s best to go in late spring when cherry and apple trees are in blossom!
As they say, hard work is the key to success. And, of course, a little bit of talent and luck.
Spirited thousand-mile journeys over roads rarely travelled by others, unknown terrains, idyllic mountain villages, and the most breathtaking landscapes in the world.
Life is one exciting journey – you sort of have a vague idea of where it is headed, but amazing things can happen along the way. Trip has taken me on many adventures. I started close by with the Ventspils big band, HQ brass band of the national armed forces, with a vocal and stage stint with the band Caffe, followed by the jazz band West Poine, which led me to the Danish bassist’s Erik Moseholm’s project E.Y.J.O. After that – jazz festivals in Lithuania – Kaunas Jazz, Estonia – Nomme Jazz and Jazz Kaar, France – MIDEM, Pori Jazz in Finland, Ottawa Jazz in Canada and Sony Jazz Stage in Latvia.
They say life is like jazz – it sounds better when you improvise. One should be prepared to juggle the many notes of life. Good improvisation requires spontaneity, a great sense of tuning with the rest of the team, and freedom. Jazz allows you to musically experience a multitude of nationalities, styles, and characters on the stage while hitting the high notes of life.
